Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway Return to Their Signature Styling in Tokyo

The global rollout of The Devil Wears Prada 2 made its Tokyo stop this week, with fashion central to its presentation to audiences. The appearance of Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep marked one of the key moments of the press tour so far, with both actors presenting looks that referenced the original film while aligning with current runway direction.

Tokyo’s inclusion in the press circuit marks Tokyo as an important stop on the press tour, with attention focused on the wardrobe choices.

Anne Hathaway’s appearance was hard to miss for its connection to her character, Andy Sachs. She wore a strapless couture gown from Valentino’s Spring 2026 collection, featuring a structured black-and-white base with a defined bustier and a voluminous ruffled skirt. A red fold-over detail ran across the bodice, adding contrast to the monochrome foundation.

Her styling referenced Andy Sachs through the return of a fringe, updated with softer, face-framing layers. This follows the press tour’s styling approach of connecting the character to current collections without replicating past looks directly.

Meryl Streep’s wardrobe took a similar approach, drawing from the authority of Miranda Priestly while incorporating current collections. She appeared in a look from Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2026 collection designed by Matthieu Blazy. The outfit centred on a vermillion coat and coordinating midi skirt marked by white splotch patterns and finished with black fringe detailing.

Accessories included white slingback heels with black toe caps, a quilted black clutch, and oversized square sunglasses, maintaining what we already  know from her character while showing the current collection.

The Tokyo stop continues the styling direction established across the press tour. Rather than isolating individual outfits, the focus stays on how each appearance shows the same approach to character and collection, carried consistently from one city to the next.

Each appearance supports a consistent visual styling. Anne Hathaway’s looks revisit Andy Sachs through updated styling details, while Meryl Streep’s wardrobe remains rooted in Miranda Priestly’s established identity, presented through current collections and clean fits.

Kate Middleton returned for the annual Easter Matins Service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on April 5, after being absent from the service in previous years due to health reasons. The Princess of Wales, her husband Prince William and their three children, joined the king and queen for the traditional celebration.

For the occasion, Kate wore a cream dress she had previously worn in 2022 for a royal engagement with Princess Anne. The Self-Portrait dress featured a blazer-cut bodice, defined by long sleeves, a belted waist and a midi skirt. Lace appliqués were designed across the top as well as side-flap pockets.

She continued the monochrome moment with a fascinator designed with floral motifs. Kate wore Bahrain pearl drop earrings crafted from rare pearls that had been gifted to Queen Elizabeth II by the Hakim of Bahrain during her 1947 wedding.

She completed the look with Ralph Lauren gold calfskin pumps, adding a warm contrast to the cream palette, and carried a small toffee-colored bag by London-based designer DeMellier. Walking alongside her daughter, Princess Charlotte who wore a chocolate brown coat layered over a blue dress, a quiet nod to her mother’s long-favored Easter color, even as Kate Middleton departed from her signature shades this year.

This year marks the sixth time she has attended Easter Sunday celebration in the Windsor, and most of the times, Kate has favored the shade of blue. During the family’s last appearance in 2023, she wore a royal blue Catherine Walker & Co. coat dress, with a matching hat and clutch. She was absent in 2024 and 2025 while undergoing cancer treatment.
