Fine Hair? These 6 Texturing Sprays Add Instant Volume
If you have fine hair, you already know the routine. It looks polished for a moment, then gravity takes over. By midday, the volume you worked so hard for has vanished. The solution isn’t piling on heavier products or teasing until your arms hurt. More often, it comes down to choosing the right kind of texturizing spray and using it with intention.
Texturizing sprays are not watered-down hairsprays. They’re built to give hair grip, lift, and structure without freezing it in place or leaving a sticky residue. When they’re done well, fine hair looks fuller, holds its shape longer, and still moves naturally.
Here are six types of texturizing sprays that can make a noticeable difference, plus how to use them without sabotaging your volume.
The Lightweight Grit Spray

This is the workhorse for fine hair. A grit spray adds subtle texture that helps strands support one another, creating fullness without weight. It’s especially useful for hair that slips flat no matter how carefully it’s styled.
Apply sparingly at the roots and work it in with your fingertips. A small amount goes a long way. Overuse can leave hair dull or powdery, but the right balance gives lift that lasts.
The Root-Focused Texturizer

Flat crowns are one of the most common fine-hair complaints. Root-targeted texturizing sprays address that problem directly, lifting hair at the scalp while leaving the lengths untouched.
Spray at the roots, flip your head forward, and let the product set naturally or activate it with a quick blast of heat. This approach works particularly well for shorter cuts and shoulder-length styles that tend to collapse on top.
The Dry Texture Spray for Next-Day Hair

Hair that’s freshly washed can be too soft to hold volume. Dry texture sprays work best on second-day hair, adding body while absorbing excess oil.
Mist through the mid-lengths and ends, then scrunch gently. The goal isn’t stiffness but separation. It’s a smart option when hair looks flat but doesn’t need a full wash.
The Soft-Hold Volumizing Spray

If traditional hairspray makes your hair fall flat, this category is worth a look. Soft-hold texturizing sprays provide structure without locking hair in place.
Use them while styling waves or a loose blowout, not just at the end. They help maintain volume while keeping hair flexible, which is critical for fine strands that show product buildup quickly.
The Modern Beach Texture Mist

Older salt sprays could leave fine hair dry and brittle. Newer formulas are more forgiving, offering texture without roughness.
Apply to damp hair, braid loosely, and allow it to air-dry. Once dry, break up the braid with your fingers for shape and fullness that doesn’t feel overworked.
The Shine-Enhancing Texturizer
Photo Credit – InstagramFine hair often struggles to balance volume with shine. Shine-boosting texturizers manage both, adding light grip while keeping hair smooth and reflective.Use this type as a finishing step, focusing on the ends and outer layers. Avoid the roots to prevent flattening. The result is fuller-looking hair that still appears healthy.
How to Use Texturizing Sprays Without Losing Volume
Placement matters. Fine hair responds best to light, layered application rather than one heavy spray. Start small and build only if needed.
Hands work better than brushes when styling with texture products. Finger styling preserves lift and prevents hair from being pulled flat again. Heat can also help activate some sprays, making their effects more noticeable.
Above all, stop before hair feels heavy. With fine hair, the moment product becomes obvious is usually the moment volume disappears.
The right texturizing spray won’t change your hair type, but it can change how your hair behaves. With the right formula and a lighter touch, fine hair can hold volume longer and look far less fragile than it’s often assumed to be.

Nina Dobrev Goes Blonde for Her New Movie Role
Nina Dobrev has traded her signature brunette hair for blonde waves as she steps into her latest film role. The actress revealed the transformation on Instagram on August 11, giving fans a first look at her appearance as Piper Bellinger in the upcoming romantic comedy It Happened One Summer.

Photo: Instagram/@ninadobrev
Dobrev, 37, shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos from the set, captioning the post, “Meet Piper. Turns out blondes do have more fun.” In the first image, she appears seated in what looks like a hair and makeup chair, posing with the new blonde hairstyle and flashing a peace sign.
The blonde look is a departure from Dobrev’s usual brunette hair and reflects Piper Bellinger’s appearance in the film adaptation of Tessa Bailey’s bestselling novel.

Dobrev also acknowledged the change on her Instagram Stories, writing that she had never thought she would be blonde and adding, “Never say never.” At the time of the reveal, it was not clear whether the actress had dyed her own hair or was wearing a wig for the role.
The actress’s carousel offered more than a glimpse at the hair transformation. It included behind-the-scenes images from the production, including shots of her co-stars Gavin Leatherwood and Virginia Gardner on a monitor, as well as Tyler Hoechlin, who plays her character’s love interest, Brendan Taggart. Dobrev was also photographed holding a clapperboard and filming a bathroom scene in a hot pink bra and lace pajama shorts. Other images showed a lake, a police car and Dobrev wearing a blue patterned bandana while posing from the makeup chair.

It Happened One Summer is based on Bailey’s New York Times bestselling novel and is the first book in the author’s Bellinger Sisters series. The story centres on Piper, an L.A. “It Girl” whose privileged life changes after a viral incident gets her cancelled. Cut off from her wealthy family’s financial support, she is sent to a small Pacific Northwest fishing town, where she is expected to repair her late father’s dive bar.
There, Piper meets Brendan Taggart, a local sea captain who has little patience for influencers. Her time in Westport forces her to confront a life very different from the one she knew in Los Angeles.

Hoechlin plays Brendan, while Virginia Gardner stars as Piper’s sister. Leatherwood plays Fox Thornton, Brendan’s best friend and fellow fisherman. Peter Hutchings, who directed The Hating Game, is directing the adaptation.
Hutchings previously described Leatherwood as an important addition to the cast, saying he was the “missing piece.” He also praised the chemistry between the actors, particularly Dobrev and Gardner as the Bellinger sisters, alongside Hoechlin and Leatherwood.
It Happened One Summer has sold more than two million copies in the U.S. and is the first book in Bailey’s Bellinger Sisters series. The series continues with Hook, Line and Sinker, while a third book is expected in 2027.
Production on the film is currently taking place in New York.

Signs Your Skin Barrier May Be Damaged
Have you ever wondered why your skin suddenly starts acting up? You’re following your skincare routine, using products that used to work well, yet somehow your skin stops responding the same way. Sometimes your serum starts stinging, your face feels unusually dry, or your skin suddenly becomes more sensitive. If this sounds familiar, your skin barrier might be the reason.
Think of your skin barrier like a protective wall, according to dermatologist Dr. Piliang, “Your skin barrier is basically your outer layer of the skin. It’s dead, not alive, and it’s made up of dead cells, lipids, proteins and fats that help protect your skin from the environment.”
But how do you know if your skin barrier is actually struggling?
Dryness and Tightness
One of the first signs of a damaged skin barrier is when your skin starts feeling dry or uncomfortable, even after you’ve applied moisturizer. This happens when the natural oils in your skin become disrupted. These oils, including ingredients like ceramides and fatty acids, help keep moisture locked in. Things like harsh skincare products, weather changes, or overdoing your routine can affect them, and in turn, your skin lose its ability to stay hydrated.
Redness and Irritation

Photo: Pinterest
A healthy skin barrier helps protect your skin from outside factors like pollution, weather changes, and strong skincare ingredients. But when that protection becomes weaker, these things can irritate your skin easily. You start to experience things like redness, discomfort, or a burning sensation, especially when using products that never caused problems before.
Flakiness and Rough Texture

Photo: Pinterest
A damaged skin barrier can also affect how smooth your skin looks and feels. When your skin starts having difficulty with retaining moisture, it becomes dry and flaky. Dead skin cells begins build up on the surface instead of shedding properly, leaving your complexion looking dull and uneven. This is why your skin starts to feel rough to touch or your makeup may not sit as smoothly as it used to.
Increased Sensitivity to Products

Photo: Pinterest
Another common sign is when your skin becomes more sensitive than usual. A product that once felt soothing, starts to sting or cause irritation. Even gentle products, including fragrance-free options, may feel uncomfortable. If your barrier is damaged, your skin becomes unable to defend itself against ingredients and outside stressors. This can make your skin react faster and more strongly than before.
How to Protect Your Skin Barrier
Use warm water, not hot
Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils. Stick to lukewarm water and be gentle when washing your face.
Choose a mild, fragrance-free cleanser
Harsh soaps can irritate your skin. Go for a gentle, soap-free formula instead.
Don’t over-exfoliate or over-cleanse
Too much exfoliating or washing can weaken your skin barrier. Keep your routine simple and avoid scrubbing.
Moisturize consistently
Look for ingredients like ceramides and fatty acids that help support your skin barrier. Also use ingredients like petrolatum, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, honey, and urea help draw moisture into the skin and keep it hydrated.
One of the best things you can do is simplify your routine and give your skin time to recover, avoid introducing too many new products at once. If your skin isn’t improving or still feels irritated, consider consulting a dermatologist about the products your skin actually needs.

How to Find the Best Eyebrow Shape for Your Face
Your eyebrows are one of the defining features of your face. The way they are shaped can make you look more awake, more lifted, and even change the entire look of your face.
But one thing a lot of people miss is that your brows should be shaped based on your face, not someone else’s. You might have tried to copy a celebrity’s brows and notice it doesn’t look the same on you, and that’s because the shape of your face is different.
Getting the perfect eyebrow shape for your face can make a huge difference in your appearance. Keep reading to learn what works best for your facial features.
Before we go into the perfect brows for your face shape, let’s look at how professionals approach brow structure and what they consider when shaping. According to celebrity brow artist Anastasia Soare, knowing your face shape will determine the best brow for your features. She explains that the natural state of your brow, the way your hair grows, can influence what shape will suit you.
Another celebrity makeup artist, Pati Dubroff, also talked on the importance of structure. She notes that your brow bone acts as a guide for shaping your brows. So instead of forcing a shape, she focuses on where the hair grows naturally, where the brow is sparse. All these adjustments can give the illusion of a lifted shape.
Best Eyebrow Shapes for Different Face Shapes
Square Face Shape

Photo: Pinterest
If your face has an angular jawline and your proportions are fairly even, you likely have a square face shape. For this face type, softer brows work best. A gently lifted arch helps balance out the sharpness of the jawline without making your face look too structured. Keeping the brows relatively straight helps visually shorten the length of your face
Oval Face Shape

Photo: Pinterest
For an oval face, the length is longer than width. In this case, the face is already balanced, so your brows don’t need too much. A light brow with lifted ends works best.
Round Face Shape

Photo: Pinterest
With a round face, the width and length of your face are quite similar. A more defined arch works well here, as this gives the illusion of vertical length and balances the roundness of the face. Avoid rounded brows, as they highlight the roundness of your face.
Heart-Shaped Face

Photo: Pinterest
For this type of face shape, the forehead is usually wider, while your chin is slightly pointed. A rounded brow will balance your facial features. Do not go for brows with angled arches, instead try a rounded curve that will soften the upper part of your face.
Rectangle (Oblong) Face Shape

Photo: Pinterest
A rectangle face is similar to a square face. It is longer and less wide, having similar width across the forehead, cheeks, and jawline. To create a balance, a flatter brow shape is perfect. Keeping the brow horizontally as it helps to visually shorten the length of your face.
After understanding your face shape, the next step is brow mapping. Brow mapping is knowing where your brows should start, arch, and end based on your facial features. Chanel ambassador Jimena Garcia explained that brow mapping is about using your natural facial proportions: like your eyes and nose as a guide to shape your brows. Other factors like your hairline and hairstyle can also influence what brow shape works best for you.
