Catherine O’Hara Dies at 71: The Comic Virtuoso who made Every Single Character Unforgettable
Catherine O’Hara built a decades-long career in character comedy. Her timing and facial control was deliberate. For more than five decades, she shaped some of the widely recognized characters in modern film and television, across satire, absurd comedy, and drama.
The Canadian-American actress and comedian died on January 30, 2026, at age 71 following a brief illness, according to her representatives. Her passing marks the loss of a distinctive comedic performer whose work balanced theatricality with emotional realism.

Born on March 4, 1954, in Toronto, O’Hara began in Toronto’s improv scene. She joined The Second City at a young age, a well-known improv institution. There, she developed the a character-driven approach. Her breakthrough arrived with SCTV, the cult sketch series that launched several careers. O’Hara stood out for her wide range. One moment she was playing a melodramatic soap actress, the next a hilariously mundane suburban mother Her timing was consistent.
Hollywood soon followed. To many audiences, she became widely recognizable as Kate McCallister in Home Alone the frantic, determined mother racing across continents to reach her child. The performance anchored the film emotionally and helped establish it as a holiday classic. She brought similar comic energy to Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice, crafting a portrait of eccentric domesticity that remains popular and lent her voice to animated classics like The Nightmare Before Christmas. In Christopher Guest’s mockumentaries. Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind she worked extensively in improvised mockumentaries sculpting characters that were detailed and character-specific.

Later, she reached a new audience. As Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek, O’Hara created a character that was highly theatrical, sculptural wigs, ornate diction, and a wardrobe that seemed to exist in its own universe. The character also showed vulnerability and fierce maternal loyalty. The role earned her an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, and received widespread attention.
Even in her seventies, she continued working, appearing in streaming series and high-profile productions that included dramatic roles. Off-screen, O’Hara kept her personal life private. She married production designer Bo Welch in 1992, and the couple raised two sons while maintaining long careers in the industry. Colleagues frequently described her as generous, sharp, and collaborative.

She emphasized careful performance over showiness. Over decades, she built a body of work defined by deliberate character choices a consistency that made her work enduring.

Their Paris night ended with another encounter with photographers as they made their way back to their hotel. In video from the scene, Elordi asked the photographers to stop following them and let them walk.
Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at 27.
Presley died on September 20, 2026, at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, California, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. His death was confirmed by a representative for his family, who asked for privacy as they grieve.
The circumstances surrounding Presley’s death remain under investigation. The medical examiner said an examination had been completed, but the cause and manner of death have been deferred while additional testing is carried out. Officials said it could take several months before a final determination is made.

Santa Monica police are investigating a suspected overdose in connection with his death. Authorities have said there is currently no indication of foul play. Emergency services responded to a call involving cardiac arrest and a suspected overdose on the morning of September 20. Presley was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m.
Presley was Crawford and Rande Gerber’s eldest child and the older brother of model and actor Kaia Gerber. Born in 1999, he began modeling as a teenager and signed with IMG Models at 15.
He made his runway debut in 2016 during Moschino’s Resort show in Los Angeles and later modeled for brands and fashion houses including Calvin Klein, Celine and Dolce & Gabbana. In 2018, Presley appeared alongside Kaia in a global Calvin Klein Jeans campaign.

Away from modeling, Presley had spoken publicly about his experiences with mental health, substance use and treatment. During a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, he discussed his personal experiences and his hopes that speaking openly could help others facing similar difficulties.
His family had also spoken publicly about his struggles. In a 2026 interview with Vogue, Kaia discussed her brother’s long struggle with addiction and the effect it had on their family. She also spoke about being proud of Presley for discussing his difficulties openly.

Crawford had also shared personal moments involving her son. In July, she posted a photograph of Presley as a young boy and wrote about how proud she was of the man he had become while still seeing him as her little boy.
The family has asked for privacy as the investigation into Presley’s death continues. The medical examiner has not yet determined the official cause or manner of death.
Millie Bobby Brown is now a mom of two, as she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, have welcomed their second baby together through adoption.
Earlier this month, on September 7, Brown gave a hint that her family may have grown when she shared a video from a family trip to the Dolomites in Italy. In the video, Brown was seen holding her daughter while Bongiovi walked alongside her with a baby carrier strapped to his chest. Though the post did not directly announce that they had welcomed another child.

The couple later confirmed the news in a joint Instagram post on September 17, where they shared a close-up photo of their newborn’s hand with the simple caption, “Hi little guy!” The post confirmed that their second child is a boy.
The arrival of their second child comes nearly a year after Brown announced that she and Bongiovi had welcomed their first daughter through adoption in August 2025. At the time, Brown shared the news on Instagram, writing, “This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond ecstatic to embark on this beautiful next chapter of our family, filled with both peace and privacy.” She ended the post with, “And then there were three.”

Brown has also been open about how she has always wanted to adopt. During a June appearance on Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, she explained that adoption had been part of her childhood dreams. “It was always part of my childhood dreams,” she said. Brown recalled that when she was around five or six years old, her parents would tell her that her baby dolls were all adopted. “I never had any of them myself. And I never pretended I was pregnant,” she said.
She later clarified that wanting to adopt did not mean she had ruled out having biological children. “It’s not because I don’t want that. Hopefully one day that’s in my future,” Brown said. She also shared how she views adoption, adding, “Adoption is love. Adoption is forever.”

Brown and Bongiovi began dating in 2021 and got engaged in April 2023. They got married in May 2024 in a private ceremony surrounded by close family, before later holding a larger wedding celebration in Italy.
They have not revealed much concerning their children’s lives, choosing to keep most of those details away from the public. Brown previously spoke to British Vogue about wanting her daughter to have the choice of whether she wants a public profile when she is older.
