Best-Dressed at the Academy Museum Gala

Published

on

The Academy Museum Gala was full of glitz and glamour, held on Saturday October 18, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. The theme for the event was “Met Gala of the West”. This year’s gala honored Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, Bruce Springsteen, Byron Yang, and also raised funds for the Academy Museum to support its exhibitions and public programs.

But that’s not our focus for now, let’s get right into another interesting part of the event which is the red carpet. Most celebrities wore looks from the Spring/Summer 2026 runways.

Below are some of the best dressed stars of the evening.

Jenna Ortega

Jenna wore a piece from Grace Ling SS26 couture look. Styled by Enrique Melendez the young star came in a metallic sculptural breastplate shaped into a leaf, it was hooked around her neck, covering her chest area and leaving the back open. She wore it with a burgundy satin slip skirt, silver hoop earrings and her hair was styled in a side-part ponytail. Her bleached eyebrows and smudgy eyeshadow gave her an alluring appearance.

Kim Kardashian

Kim dressed literally in a head-to-toe Maison Margiela couture look: a nude mask covering her entire face and held in place with a crystal-embellished choker, a strapless corseted gown with flowing sleeves connected to the hem of the dress. Her gemstone rings matched the ones on her neck. The look balanced mystery and beauty, the typical Maison Margiela style.

Rebecca Hall

She opted for a Thom Browne ensemble. On the bottom, she wore a black maxi skirt but what diverted my attention was the top, it was like a painting. From her collar bones to her midriff, the top was covered in black and white artistic canvas, it had transparent long-sleeves attached to it. The monochrome palette made her look like a work of art.

Demi Moore

The actress dazzled in a maroon asymmetrical gown from Prada. Her dress features a deep plunge, spaghetti straps. It was fitted at the waist to enhance her figure before flaring out into a full skirt. One side of the skirt had a subtle cutout, giving room for the excess fabric that extended into a tulle train. Bold diamond and ruby accessories concluded the outfit.

Eva Longoria

Eva came in an Elie Saab gown that featured intricate lace detailing and plunging neckline. It gently hugged her figure before flowing freely from the knee downwards. Her brunette waves were left loosed and minimal jewelry completed the look.

Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco

The newly-wed made their way to the Academy Museum gala red-carpet in coordinated style. Gomez went for a strapless gown with a blazer draped around her shoulders, she looked classy especially in those bold red lips. Blanco on the other hand opted for a sleek tuxedo look, together their outfits complemented each other.

Regina Hall

Regina arrived in a yellow gown by Cong Tri’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The transparent off-shoulder had pleated-like design, she paired the fit with a silver clutch and her hair was styled in a neat center part bob.

Sydney Sweeney

Sweeney appeared in a tailored black dress by Armani Prive. The floor-length attire featured a halter neckline and daring cutout at the front, showing a bit of cleavage. Her makeup was subtle and hair styled into a neat updo leaving a few strands to frame her face.

Joey King

Joey brought subtle drama in a Carolina Herrera gown paired with Chopard jewelry. The mermaid-like dress had a geometric cut design at the front, adding a touch of sculptural detail to the silhouette.

Kate Hudson

Kate chose a sleeveless pleated gown by Stella McCartney. From the waist down, one side of the fabric folded in line with the pleats above. She completed the look with silver accessories, skipping a necklace while her hair was tucked behind her ears.

Janet Jackson

The artist appeared in a red piece by Stéphane Rolland. Featuring a high neckline, the gown flowed into an exaggerated design with layers of fabric gathered into floral-like folds. The voluminous fit created a dramatic yet graceful finish.

Ava DuVernay

Ava went for an off-shoulder Louis Vuitton gown. The design combined a structured crimson band that wrapped around her shoulders with a sleek black gown. She wore her hair in a high braided bun and opted for subtle jewelry.

Just like always, the Academy Museum Gala delivered a night of glamorous style. Whether you showed up with your face fully covered like Kim Kardashian or opted for a softer, classic look, every guest made their own statement. Proving there is no particular way or style to show up for a red carpet

Zendaya attended the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles in a white dress, continuing her recent series of white outfits.

Styled by her longtime stylist Law Roach, Zendaya wore a white vintage Caché dress inspired by a design with sculpted ruching gathered toward one side of the gown. The design included a slanted neckline and one-shoulder. The most notable detail of the piece was its oversized hibiscus appliqué positioned along the neckline, with layered petals and metallic leaves.

The floral appliqué extended down the ruched side of the dress. She paired the dress with white Christian Louboutin pumps and minimal jewelry, including a single gold Cartier bracelet. Stylist Roach shared a video of the actress on the red carpet, captioning it: “An iconic piece of fashion history at ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards.”

The dress was originally made by designer Eugene Stutzman, who also worked under the name Eugene Alexander. The piece gained attention when Whitney Houston wore it in a 1987 promotional photoshoot. Her version featured two large blossoms along the neckline. The image was later used on a cover of Life magazine.

The dress returned to the public eye when costume designer Patricia Field reimagined a modified Caché version of the design for Sarah Jessica Parker in her role as Carrie Bradshaw for the first Sex and the City movie, reducing the floral detail to a single bloom. Zendaya wore a vintage Caché version of the design at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards.

Zendaya previously wore an all-white look at the Louis Vuitton show on March 10, with a thin gold band on her left ring finger and no engagement ring. The same band was seen earlier on March 5 in promo photos for her upcoming film, “The Drama,” with Robert Pattinson. While the gold band and her recent white outfits hint that the rumors may be true, the actress has yet to confirm them.

Tyla’s Snakeskin Backless Top Isn’t Real, It’s a Temporary Tattoo

Tyla has always been fearless when it comes to fashion, but her latest Paris Fashion Week appearance showed a new level of creativity. The singer caught attention when she stepped out wearing what appeared to be a daring snakeskin backless top, only for fans to later discover that the piece was, in fact, a temporary tattoo applied to her skin. She debuted the look while attending the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris. Social media reacted as the unconventional outfit showed how body art can be used in fashion

It went viral on Instagram and was discussed across social media. At first glance, it appeared to be a fitted mock neck shirt with snakeskin pattern textures and zipper details. However, designer Simon Carle revealed that the piece was created using temporary tattoo sheets.

Photo: Backgrid

According to Carle, the tattoo was designed as a single-use fashion piece meant to peel away like a snake shedding its skin, fitting the reptile theme behind the look.

Tyla wore the outfit during Paris Fashion Week. The singer paired the tattoo top with ultra low-rise jeans, and a snakeskin patterned handbag.

Temporary tattoos have appeared in fashion before, but rarely as the main garment itself. By turning body art into clothing, Tyla and Carle created a wearable fashion piece. The concept shows a growing trend in celebrity fashion where artists explore unconventional materials to create memorable moments.

The temporary tattoo top highlights how fashion is evolving. This single Instagram post by Tyla has sparked discussions about creativity and the future of fashion design. The snakeskin “top” shows fashion can be innovative without traditional fabrics.
