Naomi Osaka Kicks Off the 2026 French Open in Bold New Tennis Style
The Grand Slam champion, Naomi Osaka made her 2026 French Open appearance in a bold layered look, arriving on court before revealing her match outfit ahead of her first-round match against Laura Siegemund.

Photo: Instagram
She first stepped onto the clay court in a sleeveless black top with a corset-style hem, with sequined detailing. The sequins fell in loose, fringe-like strands, adding movement to the look. She paired it with a black pleated maxi skirt, with a soft nude underlayer.

When it was time to play, Osaka removed the outer pieces to reveal a gold minidress underneath. The look featured a high-neck top with a ruffled hem and lines of gold sequins, matched with a tiered mini skirt finished with similar detailing. She wore pink sneakers and styled her hair in a braided bun, with a few loose strands left out.

Speaking at a press conference, Osaka explained how she expresses herself through fashion.
“I feel like fashion, for me, I tell people, I don’t talk a lot, so that way I can talk through my clothes. That means I can be as loud with colors or patterns or fabric as I want, that’s the fun part, you know.” She continued, “I feel like we lost that a little in tennis, I always tell people I grew up with Serena and Venus Williams‘ grand reveals. I literally can look at a picture and probably tell you what year that outfit came from.
She concluded with “I know there are some kids or some people that are similar to me that hopefully feel that same way about my outfits. But, yeah, I am a little dramatic when it comes to my fashion sense.”

Osaka defeated Siegemund to advance to the second round, where she is set to face Donna Vekić on May 27.
