Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Release Date Moved Up Again
Sean “Diddy” Combs has gotten a reduction in his sentence, with his new release date now scheduled for February 23, 2028. The update comes after multiple adjustments to his timeline since he was sentenced to 50 months for Mann Act violations last year.
He was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a federal trial in New York and is currently serving his term at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. Before the latest change, Combs’ projected release date had already been moved up twice, first from June 4, 2028, to April 25, 2028, and then to April 15, 2028.

The facility where he is being held, FCI Fort Dix, was reportedly requested by his legal team due to its proximity to his family and access to treatment programs. “In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix.” His attorney Teny Geragos wrote in October 2025 in a court filing.
His legal team has continued to challenge the verdict. In December, they appealed both his conviction and sentence, arguing that the punishment was excessive and that the sexual encounters at the center of the case were consensual. They later filed another motion in March, describing his sentence as a “perversion of justice” and pushing for his “immediate release and a judgment of acquittal or at least vacate and remand for resentencing.”

Federal prosecutors, however, have urged the court to reject those arguments. In court filings, they argued that Combs was a repeat offender and stated that the trial judge properly considered the evidence presented.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons did not give a specific reason for the change in his release date, stating that it does “not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual, including release plans.” However, it noted that, in general, earlier release dates can result from “good conduct time” and participation in approved programs.

Reports also indicated that Combs has been involved in rehabilitation programs while incarcerated, including drug abuse treatment. The case is still under review at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, indicating that even with the revised release date, the legal proceedings have not yet been resolved.
