Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami Launch an Exquisite New Bag Collection
Louis Vuitton has teamed up once again with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for a new collection that brings art and fashion together in a visually inventive collection.
The latest Artycapucines VII Collection made its debut at Art Basel Paris 2025, showing eleven reimagined versions of Louis Vuitton’s classic Capucines bag, each transformed into a small work of art. Murakami is famous for his bold, pop-art aesthetic and his signature style defines each piece.

One of the most eye-catching pieces, the Capucines Mini Tentacle, comes in soft pink and is wrapped with sculpted octopus arms. Another, the Capucines Mini Mushroom, is covered with over 100 hand-embroidered charms shaped like mushrooms, all hand-embroidered on shiny silver fabric. There’s also the EW Dragon Bag, inspired by Murakami’s large painting Dragon in Clouds, and the Golden Garden Bag, decorated with gold-leaf leather marquetry.

Speaking about the collaboration, Murakami said he was amazed by how far Louis Vuitton’s craftsmanship has evolved. “Their artisans have reached a level of creativity and precision that even many artists can’t match,” he said.
The collection debuted at the Grand Palais in Paris, where Louis Vuitton set up an art-inspired display for the launch. The bags displayed as sculptural art piece, showing just how closely fashion and art can overlap.

Celebrities like Rihanna, Zendaya, and Kendall Jenner have admired Louis Vuitton’s collaborations with Murakami. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them carrying one of the new bags soon. Each design in the Artycapucines VII collection is extremely limited, priced up to $34,500 USD.
