With the Wicked press tour coming to an end, Cynthia Erivo showed up to the final premiere at Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday November 17 in a custom Balenciaga gown by the house newest creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli.

She wore a sculptural black turtleneck gown with long leather sleeves. It also had a pleated drop waist skirt that flowed behind her and a feathered detailing around the bust area. Cynthia told Harper’s Bazaar that she wanted the dress to feel like Elphaba’s take on couture. “If she were to attend a premiere, this is how she would show up,” she explained, giving a nod to her character on screen.

Erivo didn’t stop at the dress. She added Balenciaga’s signature oversized butterfly mask sunglasses. She also kept her jewelry minimal with diamond studs and a bracelet that added sparkle to the dark ensemble. Her stylist, Jason Bolden wrote in an Instagram post, “She’s a real witch in Custom @balenciaga by @pppiccioli.”

A few hours before the New York City premiere, Universal Pictures confirmed that Cynthia wasn’t feeling well, saying she had lost her voice, and wouldn’t be doing the usual interviews that evening. Joining her and Ariana Grande were director Jon M. Chu, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and more.

Earlier this month at the Paris premiere photocall, she and her Wicked castmates found out they’d been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Erivo also earned a solo nomination for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or Acapella for her song “Be Okay” from her album I Forgive You.

“It was really wonderful. We had no idea it was even possible, to be honest, so to get the nomination and to hear about it alongside our incredible cast and filmmakers was just the cherry on top of an already beautiful moment,” Erivo said.

Bella Hadid Defies the Cannes Dress Code in Schiaparelli

Even with Cannes Film Festival organizers tightening red carpet rules around nudity and revealing dressing this year, celebrities have continued to challenge the updated dress code. Bella Hadid joined that conversation during the premiere of La Bataille De Gaulle: L’Âge De Fer, arriving in a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown designed by Daniel Roseberry that combined sheer lace detailing with a sculpted silhouette.

The ivory gown was constructed with Schiaparelli’s signature trompe l’oeil lace embroidery and featured a deep plunging neckline that extended toward the waist through a sharply cut central opening. A black embellishment positioned across the torso connected the front of the dress and referenced the brooch detail worn by Jane Birkin during her 1969 appearance, which served as inspiration for the design. Roseberry reworked the archival reference into a more sculpted version tailored specifically for Hadid.

The fitted gown followed a body-contouring shape before opening into a tiered mermaid-style train at the hem. The sleeves extended fully to the wrists with slight flare detailing at the cuffs, while the back incorporated corset-style lacing.

According to details released by Schiaparelli, the gown required 22,160 hours of embroidery work and involved 130 artisans. The couture house also confirmed that the look was custom made for the model by Daniel Roseberry.

Hadid paired the gown with Chopard diamond jewelry, including drop earrings and a large geometric ring. Her hair was styled into an updo allowing the neckline and structure of the gown to remain the focus. The look was styled by Mimi Cuttrell, who has overseen several of Hadid’s appearances throughout the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

Earlier in the day, Hadid wore a pale blue silk Louis Vuitton minidress from Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2003 collection, paired with a sandy beige canvas shoulder bag and tortoiseshell Gucci sunglasses.
