Jessica hosted the event and she arrived in a custom Iris van Herpen gown. The design had Van’s signature sculptural details: a black gown with a set of large angel wings hanging at the edge of each shoulder. The black piece had a net like or open wave pattern, letting us see the white dress layered beneath it. From her hip, a satin skirt flowed all the way down which merged with the wings behind her.  She completed it with a chignon, black heels and pin earrings.

She wore a cream and black dress, which consisted of a squared neckline jacket and three-quarter sleeves. It had black large buttons at the front, featuring a floral appliqué on one side. She paired it with a full-length polka dot skirt.

Kate accessorized with a black-and-white vintage hat, with a floral design and a large knit bow at the back. She carried a small gold purse and completed the look with Ralph Lauren Celia pumps. She wore pearl drop earrings that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II, a gift from her wedding in 1947, along with Princess Diana’s pearl bracelets designed by Nigel Milne. She has worn the earrings a few times this year, including the Commonwealth Day service and Saint George’s Chapel on Easter Sunday.

Prince William kept to a formal dress code for the occasion, wearing a black tailored coat over a waistcoat, paired with grey trousers. He added a red-colored tie, black top hat, and a rose pinned to one side of his coat.

The garden party is a royal tradition, held during the spring season every year with most of the event taking place at Buckingham Palace, while another is usually held in Scotland at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Kate Middleton has attended many of these events, but she missed the 2024 edition due to her cancer treatment, and in previous years following the births of Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte. The next garden party is scheduled to hold on May 12.

The princess is set to have her first official overseas visit since 2023, where she will be traveling to Italy next week. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement:

“The Princess is very much looking forward to visiting Italy next week and seeing first-hand how the Reggio Emilia approach creates environments where nature and loving human relationships come together to support children’s development.”
