Rihanna Attends the Matières Fécales Spring 2027 Show at Paris Fashion Week

Rihanna joined the front row at the Matières Fécales Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris on September 28, opening her Paris Fashion Week appearances in a look featuring textured tailoring from the label.

The singer attended the presentation at Place de la République, where Montreal-based designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran presented their latest collection. The show marked the first time the fashion house had staged a presentation at the historic Paris square.

Rihanna wore a terracotta-toned skirt suit covered in glittery, tinsel-like fabric. The blazer featured an oversized shape, with the textured material becoming increasingly distressed around the collar, cuffs and hem. The matching midi skirt followed the same treatment, with fringe extending around the hem.

She wore the jacket open over a sheer black bra, creating a contrast with the metallic texture of the suit. The look was completed with pointed black Christian Louboutin pumps developed in collaboration with Matières Fécales.

The curved-heel shoes were first introduced as part of the brands’ Fall 2025 collaboration and have since been worn by several celebrities. Gabbriette wore the white version when she married Matty Healy in July 2026, while Lady Gaga has worn the shoes in Barcelona, Paris, at the 2026 Grammy Awards and at the New York premiere of The Devil Wears Prada.

Rihanna’s appearance also adds her to a growing group of celebrities who have worn Matières Fécales. Cynthia Erivo wore thigh-high boots from the label’s Christian Louboutin collaboration during the Wicked: For Good press tour. Sarah Paulson wore Matières Fécales gowns at the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Met Gala, while Demi Moore wore a neon-pink Fall 2026 design at the Cannes Film Festival. Kylie Jenner has also worn a Matières Fécales skirt suit in a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial.

Zendaya became another prominent name associated with the label earlier in 2026 when she wore a white feathered corset gown for The Odyssey premiere in New York. The design had originally appeared as the closing look of Matières Fécales’ Fall 2025 show before being loaned to Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, for the premiere.

Founded in 2014 by Dalton and Bhaskaran, Matières Fécales has built its collections around distressed finishes, unusual shapes and influences from culture, personal history and traditional craft.

For Spring/Summer 2027, the designers presented a collection featuring 99 models, all of whom were people of color. The show was divided into three acts and drew from Bhaskaran’s upbringing, including the different religious and cultural environments he experienced growing up in Montreal.

The collection also incorporated traditional materials and techniques from outside the Parisian fashion system. Sari textiles made in Varanasi were reworked into 1950s-inspired couture volumes, including one silhouette constructed with 300 metres of tulle. Handwoven cotton from Burkina Faso was incorporated into corseted eveningwear.

The presentation concluded with two young Black models carrying hyper-realistic sculptures by artist Sarah Sitkin depicting older white men wearing dollar-bill blindfolds. The finale followed opening looks in which models carried swaddled infants, bookending the show’s broader focus on representation and the relationship between power and opportunity.

The presentation took place beneath the Monument à la République, with the designers using the public setting as part of the collection’s wider theme of representation. The show also featured a new collaboration with Christian Louboutin, extending the relationship behind the curved-heel shoes worn by Rihanna.

The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards took place on September 27 at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. It was the first time the ceremony returned to Los Angeles since 2017. This year’s event was hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg and celebrated the year’s albums, music videos and live performances.

Madonna opened the show, followed by performances from Raye, Lisa, Sombr, Shaboozey and others. Among this year’s leading nominees were Sabrina Carpenter, Lisa and Taylor Swift, who also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors during the ceremony. But before the awards were handed out, celebrities arrived on the red carpet in looks that ranged from sheer gowns and silver embellishments to snakeskin and head-to-toe red.

Taylor Swift arrived in a Tamara Ralph gown, which featured a black halter-neck bodice with sheer details at the sides and an asymmetrical silver skirt that gathered at the waist before falling to the floor. Tyla, meanwhile, brought snakeskin to the carpet in a blue Mowalola bra top and low-rise skirt, paired with Chopard jewelry.

Teyana Taylor chose a sheer black Zuhair Murad coat-gown with a plunging neckline and feathers around the shoulders, cuffs and hem. Charli XCX also went for black in a Saint Laurent two-piece consisting of a sheer top with long sleeves and a floor-length skirt.

Raye wore a sheer Georges Hobeika gown covered in silver embellishments and pearl details. Lisa went all in on red, wearing a red The Attico dress under a large Quine Li coat, with the color carried through to her shoes and hair. Sombr kept things darker in ERL, wearing a fur jacket with leather pants and statement belt.

Zara Larsson Holds Onto Summer in Hot Pink Look as Fall Arrives

Fall may be here, but Zara Larsson is still holding on to summer style. The singer was spotted in New York ahead of her headlining set at All Things Go, wearing a bright pink look that had a Y2K-inspired feel.

Larsson wore a pink halter-neck top with a fitted bust section and slight gathered details underneath. The sleeveless design left her shoulders bare, while the top was wrapped around her neck. She paired it with ripped low-rise jeans. A silver belt-like detail sat around her waist, matching her hoop earrings. She kept the pink going with pumps and styled her hair in an updo with a side part.

The fitted top and ripped washed jeans gave the look an early 2000s feel, especially with the glittering silver belt and pink pumps. This same combination could also serve as the base of a fall outfit, with a jacket or coat added when the weather gets cooler.

The outfit also fits with Larsson’s current Midnight Sun era. Her fifth studio album, Midnight Sun, was built around the idea of an endless Swedish summer, and she continued that theme with the 2026 deluxe edition, Midnight Sun: Girls Trip. The project includes new collaborations with artists including PinkPantheress, Kehlani and Robyn.

Larsson’s New York appearance came ahead of her headlining set at All Things Go at Forest Hills Stadium on September 25. The festival appearance is part of her Midnight Sun Tour, which has taken the singer across different cities this year.

Dakota Johnson Brings a Daring Touch to the Verity Premiere

Dakota Johnson brought the signature sheer style she is known for to the red carpet. The actress attended the London premiere of Verity on Thursday, September 24, at Curzon Mayfair, where she arrived in a see-through gown revealing a black lingerie underneath.

Styled by Kate Young, Johnson wore an off-white, floor-length lace gown from New York designer Colleen Allen’s Fall 2026 collection. The floral lace dress featured a plunging neckline and a layered collar, with a long, streamlined silhouette. Beneath the sheer fabric, she wore a contrasting black triangle bra and matching briefs from Fleur du Mal. She finished the look with open-toe Giuseppe Zanotti heels and kept her beauty look simple with her signature straight brown hair and bangs.

This is not the first time Johnson has been seen in a see-through look. Over the years, the actress has worn different sheer styles on the red carpet, with her most recent appearance coming just two days earlier at Vogue World in Milan, where she wore a sheer black Valentino look.

Johnson was joined at the London premiere by her Verity co-star Josh Hartnett, who wore a black suit. Their other co-star, Anne Hathaway, was absent from the event as she was seen in New York City that same day.

Based on Colleen Hoover’s 2018 novel, Verity follows Lowen Ashleigh, played by Johnson, a writer hired to finish Verity Crawford’s book series after an accident leaves her unable to write. But after moving into the Crawford home, Lowen discovers secrets about Verity.

Verity hits theaters October 2.
