Rosalía was spotted in New York City carrying an oversized leather bag designed by Dana Toder. Measuring approximately one metre long, the custom-made accessory stood out against the singer’s otherwise simple black outfit.

She paired the bag with a black tank minidress, oversized black sunglasses and her dark curls. The look also included pale pink satin ballet platforms from Junko Shimada’s Spring 2009 collection. The shoes featured ribbons around the ankles, oversized black platforms and transparent heels.

The bag was created for Krähe, a forthcoming short film by Lili Conzen. Made in collaboration with Shmulik, Toder’s 80-year-old leatherworking mentor, the design incorporates archival images of women from different decades. The photographs are printed across the leather, giving the oversized accessory a design rooted in imagery and memory.

Toder’s bag is not currently a conventional everyday accessory, although the designer plans to release a smaller ready-to-wear version in 2027. Its scale and printed surface distinguish it from the more familiar leather totes and shoulder bags seen on the streets of New York.

Rosalía’s footwear also draws on ballet. The Junko Shimada platforms combine the look of satin dance shoes with exaggerated black soles and transparent heels. The singer has explored ballet references in her stage wardrobe, including a custom Dior tutu by Jonathan Anderson worn during her Lux tour.

For her New York outing, Rosalía paired those theatrical footwear details with a straightforward black dress. The oversized bag supplied the most unusual element of the look, while the pink satin shoes added another reference to ballet-inspired fashion.

The Standout Bags at Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027

At Milan Fashion Week, handbags stepped beyond their usual supporting role for Spring/Summer 2027, with designers experimenting with scale, texture, colour and unexpected ways of carrying them. Milan’s runways featured oversized leather bags, embellished pieces and groups of miniature bags, with designers playing around with different shapes and textures.

Sportmax

Sportmax took the bags in two directions. Gathered leather styles with long cords came in white, black and vivid orange, giving them a relaxed, slightly undone look. Larger tote-duffel shapes offered a roomier option, with a more defined shape than the softer designs.

Etro

Etro’s bags came in powdery shades, cream, brown, green and burnished gold. Fringing, embellishment and paisley details appeared across the compact, soft-shaped designs, giving them the relaxed feel seen throughout the collection.

Fendi

At Fendi, Maria Grazia Chiuri gave the Baguette a more decorative treatment. Sequins, embroidery and generous fringe changed the look of the familiar shape, while longer straps gave the bags more movement. Compact versions appeared alongside softer designs, creating a collection where craftsmanship and ornament took priority.

Max Mara

Max Mara took the handbag in a larger direction. Ian Griffiths presented generous, slouchy shapes that folded naturally rather than holding a rigid structure. Deep brown, sandy neutrals and black kept the palette understated, while minimal hardware gave the oversized designs an uncomplicated finish.

Marni

Marni approached bags with a playful attitude, grouping several small leather styles together and combining different colours and finishes. Meryll Rogge also showed loose drawstring pouches, offering a simpler option alongside the layered look of multiple bags worn together.

Prada

Prada revisited its familiar bag shapes with a more defined look for the season. Flat silhouettes, sculpted forms and longer handles gave the designs a sharper finish, the refined silhouettes were paired with vivid green, red and purple, giving the collection flashes of colour against the more restrained designs.

Alberta Ferretti

A small pink pouch provided one of the quieter highlights at Alberta Ferretti. Softly folded and carried in the hand, it complemented the collection’s powdery colours and fluid shapes. Its simple shape and minimal hardware kept the bag understated, letting it complement the clothes without drawing attention away from them.

Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli leaned into the collection’s expressive side with compact pouches finished with animal-print straps, tassels and flashes of colour. The bags echoed Fausto Puglisi’s use of leopard, florals and vivid prints, keeping the accessories in step with the clothes.

Milan’s Spring/Summer 2027 bags brought plenty of personality to the runway. Familiar shapes took on new proportions, softer finishes and unexpected details, while colour and embellishment gave many of the designs a fresh feel.

Dua Lipa was spotted at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport carrying a Chanel bag large enough to replace the usual airport carry-on.

The singer was photographed at JFK on Thursday, August 13, wearing a casual outfit that includes a black-and-white striped quarter-zip sweater, straight-leg blue jeans and black boots. She accessorised with angular sunglasses, simple hoop earrings and wired headphones.

Her Chanel bag was the standout piece. The oversized basket bag is made from raffia and features nautical navy, white and red stripes, sturdy black leather straps and large black interlocking Chanel Cs on the side.

The bag comes from Chanel’s Cruise 2027 collection, which was presented in Biarritz in April. The collection drew on the French Riviera and the fashion house’s seaside heritage, with the show featuring beach-inspired pieces and accessories including seashell jewellery, oversized straw baskets and swim caps.

Lipa’s bag appeared as Look 25 on the Chanel runway. For the show, it was paired with a loose linen buttoned tunic and matching shorts with multicoloured panels, finished with black-and-white striped glove heels.

The oversized accessory fits naturally into the singer’s recent holiday wardrobe, which has included Chanel looks alongside prairie dresses from Helsa and Dôen, peasant tops worn with bandanas, Tom Ford-era Gucci pieces, and bikinis from Oresee and Jacquemus. She has also spent time in Ibiza, Athens, Copenhagen, Rio and Italy this summer, including a trip around Italy with her husband, Callum Turner.

Lipa has since shifted some of her attention back to music. She has been spending time in New York recording new material at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, while also being spotted around the city, including riding Citi Bikes across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Her recent New York appearances have also included the premiere of One Night Only, the romantic comedy starring Turner, at the beginning of August. Before that, she attended the World Cup Finals in New Jersey, where she was photographed carrying another large Chanel bag.
