Miley Cyrus Announces Her 10th Studio Album, Bass Persuades

Published

Miley Cyrus is set to release her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades, on September 18 via Atlantic Records. The album follows Something Beautiful, released in May 2025, and comes after Cyrus’ move from Columbia Records to Atlantic.

The album announcement arrived on September 1 following several days of teasers across Cyrus’ social media accounts. The campaign also introduced a change to her professional name: she is now being billed simply as Miley, dropping “Cyrus” from her artist name.

The record had already been taking shape before its formal announcement. In an interview for Wonderland’s Summer 2026 issue, Cyrus revealed that the album contains 10 songs and described it as a love story. Her definition of love, however, extends beyond romantic relationships. She spoke about being in a more peaceful place with herself and how that relationship has influenced the way she connects with other people.

Maxx Morando, Cyrus’ fiancé and the drummer of Liily, is among the musicians involved in the album. Cyrus has previously collaborated with Morando on her music, including material from Endless Summer Vacation. She told Wonderland that the musicians involved in the new record also contributed to the songwriting process.

The visual identity

Cyrus had established a visual direction for the album before recording was finished. Speaking to Wonderland, she said she knew the record would contain 10 songs and had a general sense of its sound and concept. She also identified red as an important colour for the project and mentioned a leather hat among the imagery she had in mind.

Alastair McKimm, who worked with Cyrus on her Wonderland cover, was involved in developing the visual direction. The official album cover, photographed by Mert Alas, features a black-and-white portrait of Miley with a rose held between her lips.

“Bass Persuades”

The album’s title track serves as its lead single. Released on September 4, “Bass Persuades” arrives with an accompanying video directed by Mert Alas.

The song leans into dance and electronic influences, with prominent bass, synth-driven production and an Eighties-inspired sound. Its release also clarifies the musical direction hinted at during the early stages of the album campaign, when Cyrus appeared in promotional footage playing a black Fender Stratocaster.

The video continues the campaign’s fashion-focused imagery. Cyrus appears in leather-heavy styling and performs through a series of dance-centred scenes. Her wardrobe includes a black Fleur du Mal convertible bra, hot pants and high platform heels, alongside leather gloves, a biker cap and patent-leather footwear.

The complete tracklist

The album consists of 10 tracks:

  1. Bass Persuades
  2. Different Religion (feat. Model/Actriz)
  3. Let’s Get Married
  4. Orbit
  5. Aftermath
  6. REDLIGHTS
  7. Neon Signs (feat. Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow)
  8. Innocent Ways
  9. Snow
  10. Bass Persuades Remixx

The record includes collaborations with Model/Actriz and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow, while the final track is a remix of the title song.

Two nights at the Hollywood Bowl

To accompany the album release, Miley will perform two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and October 18. Model/Actriz will join her as special guest for both performances.

The concerts will be a significant return to the stage for Cyrus. She performed at Spotify’s Billions Club Live event in Paris in June 2025, while the Hollywood Bowl dates mark the first announced shows connected to the Bass Persuades era.

The venue also carries personal significance for Cyrus. She has described the Hollywood Bowl as her favourite place to experience music and noted that, despite attending performances there many times, she had never previously performed on its stage.

An American Express presale begins September 8, followed by an artist presale on September 9 and general ticket sales on September 10. The shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. local time.

What comes after Something Beautiful

Photo: Instagram/@mileycyrus

Bass Persuades follows a busy period for Cyrus. Her previous album, Something Beautiful, was released in May 2025 and later received a deluxe edition. She has also remained involved in projects connected to Avatar: Fire and Ash and the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana.

The new album also arrives after several significant milestones in her recording career. Cyrus won the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II MOST WANTED,” her collaboration with Beyoncé, following the success of “Flowers.”

The album announcement came shortly after the death of Cyrus’ godmother, Dolly Parton, who died on August 25 at age 80 following a battle with cancer. Cyrus subsequently paid tribute to Parton and reflected on their relationship. While Parton’s influence on Cyrus is well established, there has been no announcement that Bass Persuades is a tribute album to her.

For now, the album’s details are clear: 10 tracks, two featured collaborations, a title-track remix, a September 18 release date and two October performances at the Hollywood Bowl. The campaign also brings a simplified professional name and a visual identity shaped around the imagery Cyrus began developing months before the album was announced.

Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis Found Guilty of Orchestrating Tupac Shakur’s Murder After 30 Years

Published

on

Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been convicted in connection with the rapper’s murder.

On 31 August, a Las Vegas jury found Davis guilty of first-degree murder in Shakur’s 1996 killing. Davis, 63, is the only person to have been charged in the case and is now the first to be convicted. Prosecutors did not accuse him of pulling the trigger. They argued that he helped organise the attack, obtained the firearm and handed it to those who carried out the shooting.

The verdict followed less than three hours of jury deliberations after a weeks-long trial. Davis had pleaded not guilty. His defence argued that he had exaggerated or fabricated parts of his accounts over the years, particularly when discussing the killing publicly and promoting his memoir, Compton Street Legend. His lawyers also questioned the lack of independent evidence placing him in the Cadillac from which the shots were fired.

The events that led to the shooting began earlier that evening. Shakur was in Las Vegas with Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight for Mike Tyson’s fight against Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand. After the fight, Shakur and members of his entourage confronted Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, Davis’ nephew and a member of the South Side Compton Crips. Anderson was beaten during the confrontation.

Prosecutors said the incident prompted a retaliation against Shakur and Knight. They argued that Davis and other gang members went looking for them after the fight.

Later that night, Shakur was sitting in the passenger seat of a BMW driven by Knight when a white Cadillac pulled alongside them at a red light. Someone inside the Cadillac opened fire. Shakur was hit four times, while Knight was also wounded.

Shakur was taken to hospital and died six days later, on 13 September 1996. He was 25.

A key part of the prosecution’s case was Davis’ own public account of the killing. He had discussed the shooting for years before his arrest in 2023, giving investigators, filmmakers and journalists accounts of what happened. Prosecutors argued that his statements amounted to admissions that he had helped organise the retaliation and supplied the gun.

Davis’ lawyers disputed that interpretation. They argued that his accounts had changed over time and that he had exaggerated his involvement for attention and financial gain. The defence also challenged the prosecution’s reliance on Davis’ statements and argued that they were not enough to prove he was responsible for the murder.

The case had remained unresolved for decades, during which Shakur’s death became the subject of numerous theories. Some centred on the rivalry between Death Row Records and Bad Boy Records, while others suggested involvement by figures in the music industry. None of those theories resulted in criminal charges against the people they implicated.

Davis’ conviction is based on the evidence presented at trial and does not establish the wider theories that have circulated about Shakur’s death. Prosecutors argued specifically that the shooting was retaliation for the confrontation involving Anderson and that Davis helped arrange the attack.

The conviction also does not identify a convicted shooter. Anderson, whom prosecutors have identified as the person who fired the shots, was killed in Compton in 1998. The other men prosecutors alleged were involved have also died.

Davis remains in custody and faces a possible life sentence. His lawyer has said he plans to appeal. He is due to be sentenced on 13 October.

Shakur’s family reacted in court after the verdict. His sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, cried and embraced members of the prosecution team.

The conviction marks the first time someone has been held criminally responsible for Shakur’s death. For a case that remained open for almost three decades, the verdict finally establishes a legal finding against one of the people prosecutors said helped organise the attack.

Kylie Jenner is addressing the latest pregnancy rumors surrounding her and boyfriend Timothée Chalamet. During an appearance on her best friend Anastasia “Stassie” Karanikolaou’s podcast, Better Half with Stas & Vic, Jenner spoke about how she handles people creating their own narratives about her personal life.

During the conversation, Karanikolaou brought up how people on the internet always assume something is wrong whenever two people are seen together less often. Jenner explained that she has gotten used to people making assumptions about her life.

“I think that I’m so used to people creating their own narrative that I actually have to just laugh about it and I really don’t care,” Jenner said. She then brought up the latest speculation, adding, “People think I’m pregnant right now.”

The reality star made it clear that she does not feel the need to respond to every rumor that makes its way online. “I’m not going to address everything,” she said, explaining that she could simply be seen in a bikini or out somewhere and the rumors would eventually be squashed.

This is not the first time Jenner has faced pregnancy speculation. The first pregnancy rumor occurred in 2015 when she was 17 and was in a relationship with her then boyfriend Tyga. So having dealt with this, the reality star appears to be more relaxed about things like this, as she made it clear during the podcast “I just assume people will figure it out eventually, which is what they always do.”

Jenner, who shares daughter Stormi and son Aire with ex-boyfriend Travis Scott, has previously spoken about whether she wants more children. In March, she told Vanity Fair that she wanted to spend the remaining years of her 20s focusing on herself, her businesses, her work and traveling with her children, but added that she does want to have more kids.

More recently, Jenner opened up about the possibility of another pregnancy during a FaceTime conversation with her friend Yris Palmer on Hulu’s The Girls: A Khloé Kardashian Project. When surrogacy came up, Jenner said the thought of carrying another baby “right now feels insane” and that she was 99.9% sure she could not use a surrogate. She explained that she has had big, healthy babies and does not feel there is a reason for her to use one.

Jenner has been dating Chalamet since 2023, and although the couple keeps much of their relationship private, they have made several public appearances together. Chalamet has also spoken about fatherhood, saying in a 2025 Vogue interview that having children could be on his radar.

For now, Jenner’s latest comments suggest that the baby No. 3 rumors are just that rumors.
