The Y2K Bandana Trend Is Back and Celebrities Are Leading the Revival
The Y2K bandana trend is returning, but celebrities are bringing a different approach to the nostalgic accessory. From silk scarves styled as head coverings to printed bandanas paired with summer outfits, the once-popular piece is being reintroduced through modern styling.
In the early 2000s, bandanas were mostly worn with casual outfits, often paired with denim and everyday streetwear. More recently, celebrities have started wearing them beyond casual settings, styling them with more polished and tailored looks. At the same time, newer versions such as plain silk scarves have been introduced, offering a different interpretation of the accessory.

Priyanka Chopra proved that bandanas don’t have to be casual. She wore one to 2026 Wimbledon, pairing it with a clean ivory shirt dress which matched the rest of the look. It showed that the accessory can work even in more refine settings.
Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa has incorporated bandanas into her summer travel wardrobe. She wears them with light, breezy outfits like linen sets or light summer pieces. It’s not just about style either, it also helps keep her hair in place, especially in windy or beach settings.
Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner recently shared a photo of herself in a black-and-white printed bandana as part of a casual look, tying it over her hair in a way that kept it pulled back while adding detail to the outfit.
Beyond printed bandanas, silk scarves have also been used in similar ways. Celebrities have styled these softer fabrics as head coverings, giving the look a more refined finish.

Zendaya wore outfits where the fabric extended into a headscarf, instead of adding one separately. This made the head covering part of the outfit rather than an extra accessory.
Simone Ashley

The styling has appeared in evening looks, with Simone Ashley loosely tied a silk scarf over her head, sitting slightly back rather than right on her forehead, with her hair still tucked neatly behind.
Kaia Gerber

Kaia Gerber decided to go all monochrome by wrapping a white silk headscarf over her hair, matching her outfit.
The bandana trend returned because it’s simple, and works in different ways. With different approaches from celebrities, the piece is now worn across casual, travel, and more dressed-up looks.

Hailey Bieber Gives Chainmail a Fresh Spin in a Bejeweled Chanel Jacket and Jeans
Hailey Bieber paired a metallic Chanel jacket with light-wash jeans and black pointed-toe pumps at the WYouth launch party in Los Angeles on October 15, 2026. The outfit combined an embellished designer piece with casual denim, giving the jacket a different look from its original runway styling.
Bieber wore the cropped jacket without a top underneath, fastening a single button at the front. Its silver mesh was decorated with red and turquoise details, jeweled trim, and textured knit accents. The design combined a shirt-like cut with metallic detailing, making it the main feature of her outfit.

The jacket comes from Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel Fall 2026 collection. On the runway, it was styled with an elongated tweed vest, a plaid pencil skirt, and peach-and-burgundy pumps. Bieber opted for light-wash, low-rise, straight-leg jeans instead, creating a more casual combination. Black pointed-toe pumps completed the look.
The metallic mesh also offered a chainmail-inspired alternative to the tweed and bouclé jackets traditionally associated with Chanel. Its reflective surface and knitted trim gave the piece a distinct appearance, while the pockets and cropped shape retained the familiar structure of a jacket.

Bieber was not the only celebrity to wear the design. Margot Robbie reportedly paired the same jacket with jeans after the 2026 Met Gala, adding a white tank top, gold Manolo Blahnik sandals, and a ruby-red Chanel clutch. Olivia Wilde also wore the jacket at Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week, styling it with a matching pencil skirt and a white tank top. These appearances showed how the piece could be styled for different occasions, from casual dressing to a coordinated runway-inspired look.
Bieber attended the WYouth launch party as the magazine’s inaugural cover star. She co-hosted the event alongside W editor-in-chief Sara Moonves and WYouth editor Ava Nirui.
The look fits Bieber’s preference for combining casual staples with designer pieces. By pairing the metallic Chanel jacket with jeans, she gave a runway design a less formal setting without introducing additional statement pieces.

Hailey Bieber Gives a Custom Ferragamo Mini Dress a New Look
Hailey Bieber Wears Custom Ferragamo Crystal-Embellished Minidress
Hailey Bieber stepped out in a custom Ferragamo crystal-embellished minidress on October 13 for a dinner celebrating her collaboration with activewear brand Adanola.
The champagne-beige dress featured a halter neckline, a fitted silhouette and an open back. The design was crafted from washed silk covered with a net embellished entirely with crystals, giving the short dress its all-over sparkle.

Ferragamo creative director Maximilian Davis created the custom piece in collaboration with Bieber and her stylist, Dani Michelle. Michelle acknowledged Davis on Instagram, thanking him for bringing their vision for the look to life.
Bieber kept her accessories simple, wearing diamond drop hoop earrings by Jessica McCormack. The earrings featured east-west oval-shaped stones that complemented her wedding ring.
Her hair was styled in a clean, pulled-back bun by hairstylist Irinel de León, leaving the halter neckline and crystal detailing fully visible. She also wore a luminous body finish that may have come from Rhode’s liquid Luminizer.

Photo: Instagram/@danixmichelle
The appearance followed Bieber’s recent preference for gold-toned eveningwear. During Paris Fashion Week, she hosted a Rhode party in a vintage Saint Laurent minidress featuring a babydoll silhouette. She paired that look with loose, shoulder-length waves, opting for a different silhouette and hairstyle for the Adanola celebration.
Unlike the vintage Saint Laurent design, Bieber’s Ferragamo dress was made specifically for the occasion. Its crystal-covered netting, washed-silk base and halter neckline defined the look, while the diamond earrings completed the ensemble without competing with the embellishments.
