Celine Dion fell during her Paris concert on October 7 and later briefly forgot the lyrics to one of her best-known French-language songs, drawing attention to the singer’s return to live performances after years of health challenges.

The 58-year-old singer was performing “Dans un autre monde” at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, west of Paris, when she slipped and fell backward. Her trousers reportedly caught under one of her heels, contributing to the fall.

Dion got back to her feet, gave the audience a thumbs-up and continued singing. Later in the concert, she briefly lost her place while performing “Pour que tu m’aimes encore,” her 1995 hit written by Jean-Jacques Goldman.

Audience members sang along when Dion forgot the lyrics. The singer thanked them for their support, acknowledging the moment without allowing it to bring the performance to a halt.

The incidents attracted attention because Dion has spent recent years managing stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that can cause muscle stiffness and painful spasms. She publicly revealed her diagnosis in December 2022, explaining that the condition had affected her ability to sing and perform as before.

Her diagnosis forced her to postpone and cancel performances while she sought treatment and worked to manage her symptoms. In 2024, the documentary I Am: Celine Dion gave viewers a closer look at the physical difficulties she faced while navigating the condition and trying to continue her career.

Dion returned to full-length concerts in September 2026 after more than six years away from the stage. Her Paris residency marked an important step in her return to live performance following years of uncertainty about her ability to tour again.

However, neither the fall nor the brief lapse in lyrics establishes that her condition has worsened. The reported explanation for the fall was that her clothing caught under her heel, while forgetting lyrics can happen during a live performance. Any conclusion about a change in her health would require further evidence.

Dion continued performing after both incidents, while the audience sang along when she lost her place. The moments offered a glimpse of the unpredictable nature of live performance, but they do not, on their own, reveal whether her medical condition has changed.
