Uma Thurman on Why Los Angeles Was Never Her Home

Uma Thurman, despite her fame, never quite felt at home in Los Angeles. In an interview with InStyle she talked about how her job took her to Los Angeles but she chose to stay in New York, she put her family and personal life first before getting fully involved in Hollywood’s social scene.

Thurman once considered moving to Los Angeles and even rented an apartment to be closer to work. However, shortly aftershe became pregnant with her daughter and ultimately chose to remain in New York.

She chose to prioritize her family and personal life, though Thurman acknowledges that decision came with some trade-offs.

“I never did time in Los Angeles, and because of that, I kind of never integrated into the community of my own profession,” she said

She doesn’t appear to regret her choice, valuing the sense of community she found in New York above all.She had friends and other moms there who supported her. It was a life away from the pressures of Hollywood.

Uma’s story reveals a different side of fame. Despite worldwide recognition and starring roles in films like Kill Bill, she made decisions based on what brought her personal happiness.
