Rihanna Attends the Matières Fécales Spring 2027 Show at Paris Fashion Week

Rihanna joined the front row at the Matières Fécales Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris on September 28, opening her Paris Fashion Week appearances in a look featuring textured tailoring from the label.

The singer attended the presentation at Place de la République, where Montreal-based designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran presented their latest collection. The show marked the first time the fashion house had staged a presentation at the historic Paris square.

Rihanna wore a terracotta-toned skirt suit covered in glittery, tinsel-like fabric. The blazer featured an oversized shape, with the textured material becoming increasingly distressed around the collar, cuffs and hem. The matching midi skirt followed the same treatment, with fringe extending around the hem.

She wore the jacket open over a sheer black bra, creating a contrast with the metallic texture of the suit. The look was completed with pointed black Christian Louboutin pumps developed in collaboration with Matières Fécales.

The curved-heel shoes were first introduced as part of the brands’ Fall 2025 collaboration and have since been worn by several celebrities. Gabbriette wore the white version when she married Matty Healy in July 2026, while Lady Gaga has worn the shoes in Barcelona, Paris, at the 2026 Grammy Awards and at the New York premiere of The Devil Wears Prada.

Rihanna’s appearance also adds her to a growing group of celebrities who have worn Matières Fécales. Cynthia Erivo wore thigh-high boots from the label’s Christian Louboutin collaboration during the Wicked: For Good press tour. Sarah Paulson wore Matières Fécales gowns at the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Met Gala, while Demi Moore wore a neon-pink Fall 2026 design at the Cannes Film Festival. Kylie Jenner has also worn a Matières Fécales skirt suit in a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial.

Zendaya became another prominent name associated with the label earlier in 2026 when she wore a white feathered corset gown for The Odyssey premiere in New York. The design had originally appeared as the closing look of Matières Fécales’ Fall 2025 show before being loaned to Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, for the premiere.

Founded in 2014 by Dalton and Bhaskaran, Matières Fécales has built its collections around distressed finishes, unusual shapes and influences from culture, personal history and traditional craft.

For Spring/Summer 2027, the designers presented a collection featuring 99 models, all of whom were people of color. The show was divided into three acts and drew from Bhaskaran’s upbringing, including the different religious and cultural environments he experienced growing up in Montreal.

The collection also incorporated traditional materials and techniques from outside the Parisian fashion system. Sari textiles made in Varanasi were reworked into 1950s-inspired couture volumes, including one silhouette constructed with 300 metres of tulle. Handwoven cotton from Burkina Faso was incorporated into corseted eveningwear.

The presentation concluded with two young Black models carrying hyper-realistic sculptures by artist Sarah Sitkin depicting older white men wearing dollar-bill blindfolds. The finale followed opening looks in which models carried swaddled infants, bookending the show’s broader focus on representation and the relationship between power and opportunity.

The presentation took place beneath the Monument à la République, with the designers using the public setting as part of the collection’s wider theme of representation. The show also featured a new collaboration with Christian Louboutin, extending the relationship behind the curved-heel shoes worn by Rihanna.
