Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has given Callum Turner his approval as the next person to take on the iconic role. Speaking in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Brosnan said he was looking forward to finding out who would play the next James Bond.

“Oh, I’m just an audience member now. I’m just the man in the street who is eager to see who is going to play this epic role of cinematic history. All the men who are on the list now are actors I admire. Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong.

The pair previously shared the screen in the 2017 film The Only Living Boy in New York, in which Turner played Brosnan’s on-screen son. Speaking about the actors reportedly being considered for the role, Brosnan praised their voices, physiques, screen presence and longevity as actors.

According to sources, Turner is among the reported contenders for the role, alongside Jack Lowden, best known for his appearance in the Apple TV+ series Slow Horses. The reported contenders have also been undergoing final screen tests as the search continues.

Brosnan, who played James Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002, also had some words of encouragement for whoever eventually gets the role. “Whoever plays the role, I wish him the very best of life and strength and courage. You know, it’s hard to tell who it would be, but I eagerly await to hear the news and the celebration of the next James Bond.”

He also expressed excitement about seeing Dune director Denis Villeneuve take on the spy franchise, predicting that audiences would be blown away by his approach.
