Kim Kardashian is still working towards becoming a lawyer, but she is in no rush to retake the California bar exam. One year after revealing that she had failed her first attempt, the SKIMS founder says she intends to try again when she has enough time to prepare.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the New York premiere of All’s Fair Season 2 on November 2, Kardashian confirmed that her legal ambitions remain firmly in place. “I am always thinking about the bar,” she said, explaining that she wants to approach another attempt when her schedule allows her to concentrate fully on studying.

“I’m going to take my time and wait until the moment is right, when I have some free time to focus on it,” she added.

The decision comes as Kardashian continues to balance several professional commitments. Alongside her role in Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair, she is involved in The Kardashians, has an upcoming film with Eva Longoria and continues to oversee SKIMS. She is also raising her four children, leaving limited room for the intensive preparation required for the examination.

Kardashian’s pursuit of a legal career began in 2019, following her growing involvement in criminal justice reform. Her advocacy work, particularly her efforts to secure the release of Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for a non-violent drug offence, encouraged her to develop a deeper understanding of the legal system. Her late father, Robert Kardashian, who was an attorney and famously represented O.J. Simpson during his 1995 murder trial, was also an influence.

Rather than attending a traditional law school, Kardashian enrolled in California’s Law Office Study Program, a four-year apprenticeship that allows eligible candidates to study law under the supervision of practising attorneys and judges. She completed the programme in 2025 before sitting for the California bar exam in July that year.

In November 2025, she announced that she had not passed. However, Kardashian made it clear that the result would not end her pursuit of a legal career. She had previously passed California’s First-Year Law Students’ Examination, commonly known as the baby bar, in 2021 after four attempts.

Her All’s Fair co-star Sarah Paulson is equally confident about her prospects. Speaking alongside Kardashian at the premiere, Paulson offered her support, saying, “She’s going to be a great lawyer. She will.”

Kardashian has previously discussed what she hopes to do once she qualifies, including the possibility of stepping away from reality television to concentrate on practising law. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in 2025, she spoke about eventually becoming a trial lawyer, describing it as something she genuinely wants to pursue.

For now, her next bar examination remains unscheduled. With her entertainment and business commitments continuing to demand her attention, Kardashian is giving herself time to prepare for another attempt while keeping her ambition of becoming a practising attorney alive.
