Family Matters’ Star Darius McCrary Arrested Near U.S.–Mexico Border
Darius McCrary, once known to millions as Eddie Winslow on Family Matters, has made headlines again, only now, it’s for an issue outside Hollywood. Border Patrol agents near the U.S.–Mexico border stopped the 49-year-old actor on October 5 and later discovered he had a felony warrant out of Michigan, leading to his arrest. McCrary was later booked into San Diego County Jail, where he’s currently being held without bail.

The warrant reportedly stems from a missed court appearance linked to an ongoing child support case. It’s not the first time the actor has faced legal trouble, and according to court documents, his case has been open for years following a messy divorce from his ex-wife, Tammy Brawner, a former Harlem Globetrotter.
McCrary was previously ordered to pay just over $1,300 a month in child support and to complete drug and anger management programs. He was also granted limited, supervised visits with his daughter, Zoey, until those programs were completed.

According to those close to him, McCrary didn’t intentionally miss his court date. They say he was recovering from an illness and never saw the notice. Even so, the arrest surprised many online, fans who grew up watching him couldn’t believe the headlines.
People who grew up watching Family Matters can’t help but feel a little sad about this. Eddie Winslow was the funny, cool big brother everyone loved and – seeing Darius McCrary caught up in this mess just feels off.
