Diddy Sentenced to Four Years in Prison After Emotional Courtroom Scene
Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially been sentenced to four years in federal prison after being convicted on two prostitution-related charges, a major fall in the life of one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.”
During Thursday’s hearing in a Manhattan courtroom, the 55-year-old music mogul appeared visibly emotional. With his head bowed and shoulders hunched, he listened as Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the sentence, 50 months in total, with credit for time already served, meaning Diddy will spend about three more years behind bars.

Before the sentence was read, Diddy addressed the court in a tearful apology, calling his past behavior “disgusting, shameful, and sick.” He expressed remorse toward his former partners, family, and fans, admitting, “My children deserve better. I failed my mother as a son.”
Judge Subramanian, in his remarks, said the sentence was meant to “send a message to abusers and victims alike that exploitation and violence against women will be met with real accountability.” Prosecutors had urged the court to impose an 11-year sentence, arguing that Diddy still hadn’t fully accepted responsibility for his actions. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik criticized him for allegedly booking speaking engagements ahead of the hearing, calling it “the height of hubris.”

The defense, meanwhile, asked for leniency, citing his community work and the 12 months he’s already spent behind bars. A 12-minute video was played in court showing Diddy participating in charity events and speaking to children about perseverance and success, a moment that left him visibly shaken.

Diddy was acquitted earlier of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking but convicted on the lesser charges of transportation for prostitution. As the hearing ended, he mouthed “I love you” to his family before being led out by U.S. Marshals. The case stands as a significant reckoning for both Combs and the industry, underscoring how accountability continues to reach even the highest levels of entertainment.
