Jay-Z has reportedly selected himself to headline the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show, according to a report published on October 20. The rapper, who has helped shape the event’s musical line-up through Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL, could take centre stage at Super Bowl LXI in February 2027.

Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were reportedly among the artists considered for the performance. Harry Styles was also mentioned as a potential contender in separate entertainment reporting. However, neither the NFL nor Roc Nation had officially confirmed the booking at the time of reporting.

Roc Nation partnered with the NFL in 2019 to help develop its live music strategy and curate the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The partnership was renewed in 2024 for another five years, with the agreement reportedly worth $5 million annually. Kendrick Lamar headlined the 2025 show, followed by Bad Bunny in 2026.

The reported selection comes as two of Jay-Z’s albums reach significant anniversaries. His debut album, Reasonable Doubt, turns 30 in 2026, while The Blueprint, released in 2001, marks its 25th anniversary.

Despite not releasing a studio album since 4:44 in 2017, Jay-Z continues to attract audiences through live performances. He grossed more than $42 million across three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium in July. He also headlined the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30 and generated $12 million from a sold-out Paris show the following month.

His catalogue includes collaborations with artists across hip-hop and R&B. In 2013, Beyoncé’s Drunk in Love, featuring Jay-Z, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Beyoncé could attract attention as a potential guest if Jay-Z’s reported booking is confirmed. She headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2013 and appeared alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars in 2016. However, no guest performers have been announced.

Jay-Z’s recent concerts have also featured notable reunions. During his September shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, he reunited the Fugees onstage.

The timing of the reported selection has added to speculation about an announcement. Jay-Z was scheduled to perform at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles during the weekend of October 23. The venue is also set to host Super Bowl LXI in February 2027. However, an announcement during the concerts has not been confirmed.

If the report proves accurate, Jay-Z would move from helping select the Super Bowl’s musical performers to headlining the event himself. For now, the NFL and Roc Nation have yet to confirm his participation.
